Geastrum coronatum Pers. syn. Geastrum limbatum Fr. Hals-Erdstern Géastre couronné. Fruit body opening to 5–10cm across, outer wall splitting into 5–8 pointed rays which curve downward and become irregularly cracked. Spore sac on a short thick stalk, subglobose, grey-brown, opening by a central pore. Spores dark brown, globose, warted, 3.5-4.5um in diameter. Habitat on soil in coniferous and deciduous woods. Season autumn. Rare. Not edible. Distribution, America and Europe.
